Troubleshooting and Configuration

  1. If prompted for elevated privileges when entering and exiting settings while in Lockdown mode, Lockdown Manager did not install correctly. Check log files
  2. To manually disable the Lockdown mode shell, open a command prompt and enter
    1. c:\Program Files (x86)\Quicklaunch.LockdownManager\Quicklaunch.LockdownManager.exe disable
  3. On multi-language computers, the proper start menu folder may not be detected properly. See "Manual Configuration of Start Menu Folder"

Manual Configuration of Start Menu Folder

There may be an issue with the name of the start menu folder if there is an item in the Event Log from Quicklaunch.LockdownManager that contains "Cannot locate Quicklaunch start menu link."

To find the proper name of the start menu folder, open a command prompt (DO NOT use windows explorer) and enter the following commands

cd c:\users\{YOUR USERNAME}

dir Quicklaunch.appref-ms /s

Copy the file path up to, but not including the "Quicklaunch" directory.

Open Windows Explorer to C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicklaunch.LockdownManager and open the file Quicklaunch.LockdownManager.exe.config with a text editor.

Edit the line containing "StartMenuOverrideFolder" to true and paste the file path found in the steps above into it.
