If you have a touch screen, this FAQ shows you how to turn on or off automatically showing the touch keyboard when you are in desktop mode and there's no keyboard attached for your account in Windows 10.

In the Windows Search Bar type ‘Typing’
Select Typing Settings
Select Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there’s no keyboard attached
Reboot
