Import folder is used to push out Settings Files to multiple computers when installing Quicklaunch silently. It can also be used to update Quicklaunch configurations remotely. To support both options Quicklaunch exports Settings file and a Template in different formats (.qls and .qlt).

The option to "Backup All Settings" exports a file that contains all configurations with an account and license information (.qls format).

The option to "Create Room Template" exports a file that saves configurations only (.qlt format).

1. How to create a Master Settings File (.qls format).

Before creating a master Settings file, make sure to Save Settings.

  • Go to System->General Setting

  • Enable "Use Import file for silent install"
  • Settings must be "Saved" prior to Exporting.
  • Click on "Export" and choose to "Backup All Settings".

The Master Settings file is now exported in .qls format. This Settings file exports all Settings including the License and Account information.

2. How to create a template (.qlt format).

To Export Quicklaunch Template, choose to "Create Room Template" from the setting screen. (see the picture above).

Note: the Quicklaunch Template does not save the License and Account information. Templates are used to silently update Quicklaunch existing configurations.

3. How to preload Quicklaunch with a Settings file or a Template.

When Quicklaunch starts, it checks for the new configuration file in C:\ProgramData\UC Workspace\Quicklaunch\Import  directory. To update Quicklaunch on the next start, put your exported Settings File or a Template into the Import folder.
