Enhanced Experience and Secure Browser are two great features which are accessible now with Website Action Tiles. Enhanced Experience offers a smoother web browsing experience while secure browser ensures that no credentials or history is saved when the browser is closed.

1. Usage Scenarios

Using a web site where a user logs in

For example, in the conference room there is an Action Tile that starts a web browser where a user logs into a corporate intranet. In this case, we suggest the following settings:

  • Enable "Secure Browser" option to ensure the user credentials are not stored on the computer and will be erased when the browser is closed.
  • Enable "Enhanced Experience" if you want the web site to look more like a desktop app with no tabs or URL.
  • Enable "Start New Window" if you want to allow multiple users to use the web site at the same time.

Using a web application like Trello

In the scenario, users in the conference room would like to access their Trello to-do lists.  In this case, we suggest the following settings:

  • Enable "Secure Browser" option to ensure the user credentials are not stored on the computer and will be erased when the browser is closed.
  • Enable "Enhanced Experience" will make the web site look more like a desktop app with no tabs or URL.
  • Enable "Start New Window" if you want to allow multiple users to use the web site at the same time.

Going to a help desk web page

In this example you have a common corporate help page that is accessible without any sign in credentials. In this case, we suggest the following settings:

  • Although "Secure Browser" is not required, as there are no user credentials, you can still turn it on in case someone navigates to a secure site.
  • Enable "Enhanced Experience" will make the web site look more like a desktop app with no tabs or URL.
  • Disable "Start New Window" so that each time the action tile is clicked, it will always go to the same web browser window.

Using a Web Application Anonymously

Lets say you are using an online whiteboard anonymously (like Ziteboard).

  • Although "Secure Browser" is not required, as there are no user credentials, you can still turn it on in case someone navigates to a secure site, or chooses to log into Ziteboard after making a drawing.
  • Enable "Enhanced Experience" will make the web site look more like a desktop app with no tabs or URL.
  • Enable "Start New Window" if you want to allow multiple users to use the web site at the same time with multiple drawings.

Both Enabled

4. Starting a New Window or using the Same One

Each time you click an Action Tile, you have the option to start a new window or use the same one.  If you use the same window, Quicklaunch will simply pop-up the existing browser window for the action.

5. Using the *new* "launched window" display rule

We have added a new display rule that ensures the display rule will work against the window launched from the action tile. Use the "Launched Window" Display rule whenever using web browsers.

6. Using the "Quicklaunch profile" to open web browser windows under a temporary profile.

All instances of Chrome or Edge web browsers windows launched from Quicklaunch will be started under the temporary profile that is automatically deleted on Room Reset.
