This FAQ will explain how to customize Display Rules for Meetings, Action Tiles and Meet Now. Quicklaunch provides the ability to manage how and where an application will be displayed when it is started. This feature allows you to, for example, have a whiteboard or PowerPoint application open on one screen and launch a Skype for Business meeting automatically on another screen.

1) Display Rules Settings and Meanings

Quicklaunch has a default display rule for most applications. You can edit the default display rule OR create a new one by clicking on the "+" icon in the bottom left.

  • Rule Name:  Each Application has a rule within our library in Quicklaunch or you can create your own rules for your applications.
  • Window Lookup; Tells Quicklaunch how to locate the window to be positioned (set in default action tiles)
  • Change State: Tells Quicklaunch how to open the application window:   Maximized, Minimized, Normal (last state) and Hidden NOTE1: If Change State is set to Maximized, it will override the Change Size option NOTE2: If Change State is set to Hidden, it will override Change Z-Order
  • Change Z Order: Set to open on the top or bottom -  Z-Order allows you to choose whether the application opens on top or on the bottom of other applications.
  • Move to Screen: Move to Screen allows you to select which display the application will open on. To identify which display to use click "Identify Screens" at the top right of the current settings screen.
  • Move to Location/ Change Size: Set specific location of the application – used when starting applications in a specific area of the screen For More Info See Below)
  • Delay: Allows a delay to be set before applying the display rule. This is useful if it takes a few seconds for an application to start up.

1a) How to Configure "Move to Location" and "Change Size"

Move to Location and Change Size are both based on pixel counts.

Examples which demonstrate Move to Location:

  1. With x = 0 and y = 0 the top left of the application window will be at the top left of the display.
  2. With x = 200 and y = 200 the top left of the application window would start 200 pixels from the top and 200 pixels from the left hand side of the screen.

2) Default Display Rules

When Adding a Display Rule to your meetings or Action tile a default display rules will appear, this is the recommend rule, but can be customized.

Default Display Rules for Action Tiles: For example Word, PowerPoint, etc..

Default Display Rules for Meet Now: S4B, Google Hangouts, URL and Webex all have the same Default.

Default Display Rules for Meetings: All Meeting Providers that we support will appear with the same default display rules. (Example Using S4B)

  • First head to settings > Actions > Group > Select "View Open Window"
  • A window will appear showing the current windows that are open  > Select the filter icon under "Title"
  • Under the filtered settings > "Show Rows with Value" > Select Contains >and then Contains again
  • Enter your program name and select filter
  • Your Program name and window class will be displayed.  You can use the class name in your custom display rule to find your application.
